How to Find and Follow Your Instagram Friends on Threads

Are you on Threads but struggling to connect with your Instagram friends? Or did you try searching but couldn’t find your Instagram friends on Threads? Look no further. In this article, we will guide you on how to find and follow your Instagram friends on Threads quickly and efficiently. 

Before we delve into the steps, you must know that you can still find and follow Instagram users on Threads even if they’re yet to join the platform. The only catch is that the following will only happen when they enter the platform. Moreover, you can find and follow someone on Threads in multiple ways. Let us walk you through all.

Method 1: Follow Instagram Friends while Setting up Threads Account

Once you have downloaded the Threads app and set up your account, the platform will guide you through the steps to follow known accounts. Follow along.

Step 1: Once you begin setting up your Threads account, the app brings you to the ‘Follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram?’ screen. Here, you will see a list of friends you follow on Instagram available to be followed by you on Threads.

Step 2: Scroll through the list of users and tap the Follow button adjacent to the account you want to follow on Threads. 

Note: You may see the Follow or Request button depending on whether the person you follow has a public or private account.

Step 3: If you can’t find your friends/accounts on Thread, use the Search option to look for someone’s name or username you want to follow. 

Step 4: If you are not looking to curate your following, use the Follow all button to follow everyone at once. In the pop-up, choose Confirm.

Method 2: Find IG Friends From Thread Settings

This method lets you connect with your Instagram friends with ease. Follow the below steps.

Step 1: Launch the Threads app on your Android or iOS device. Navigate to the Profile tab in the bottom right corner.

Step 2: Tap on the Hamburger icon in the top right corner. You will be taken to the Settings screen. Here, tap the ‘Follow and Invite friends’ option.

Step 3: In the Follow and invite friends screen, choose ‘Follow accounts from Instagram.’ On the next screen, scroll through the list of accounts and tap the Follow button adjacent to the account you want to follow.

There you go. You have successfully followed your peers from Instagram on Threads. If you only want to follow Instagram friends who followed you on Threads, jump to the next method.

Method 3: Use Threads Profile and Find Instagram Friends

Finding and following someone from your profile screen is simple and easy. Follow the instructions below. 

Step 1: Launch the Threads app on your Android or iOS device. Navigate to the Profile tab in the bottom right corner.

Step 2: Tap the follower count below your username in the Profile screen and go to Following from the bottom sheet.

Note: If you don’t have any followers, you will see 0 followers mentioned, tap on it and proceed with the below steps.

Step 3: Tap on the See all option in the top section. You will be taken to the ‘Follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram?’ screen. 

Step 4: Scroll through the list of users and tap the Follow button adjacent to the account you want to follow on Threads. 

Note: You may see a Follow or Request button depending on whether the person you follow has a public or private account.

Step 5: If you cannot find your friends on Thread, use the Search option to look for someone’s name or username you want to follow.

Step 6: If you are not looking to curate your following, use the Follow all button to follow everyone at once. In the pop-up, choose Confirm.

That’s about it. You have found your friends or family members from Instagram on Threads and followed them successfully.

Method 4: Follow Someone From the Threads Activity Screen

Much like Instagram, the Threads app also has an Activity screen that gives you an update on your account engagements, other activities, and notifications. We will use this screen to find and follow Instagram friends. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Launch the Threads app on your Android or iOS device. Navigate to the Heart icon in the bottom navigation bar.

Step 2: In the Activity screen, scroll down and go through accounts. If you see someone you want to follow, tap on the Follow button adjacent to their username. 

If your account is private, you can’t find users who followed you directly since you need to accept their requests first. Continue with the below steps.

Step 3: In the Activity screen, go to the Requests tab, and from the list of people who have sent their follow requests, tap on the Confirm button adjacent to the username to add them to your follower’s list.

Note: You can directly confirm the request from the Activity screen without adding the Requests filter. We had demonstrated, considering you may have multiple notifications.

Once you approve the request, depending on the type of account, you can go ahead and follow or request to follow the account. That’s it! You have followed someone from Instagram on Threads using the Activity Screen. 

Method 5: Find and Follow Instagram Friends Using Search Page

Like any other social platform, even Threads allows you to search and follow your Instagram friends and family. Follow the below steps.

Step 1: Launch the Threads app on your Android or iOS device. Navigate to the Search icon in the bottom navigation bar.

Step 2: Tap on the Search bar and type the Instagram name or username of the account you want to connect with. From the search result list, tap the Follow button next to the account you want to follow. 

Note: If you don’t remember the username of your friend or the account you want to connect with, you can go to Instagram, copy the username, and paste the same on Threads.

Method 6: Ask Your Instagram Friends to Share Threads Profile

If the above methods don’t help, you can ask your friend to share their Threads profile, or you can share yours for quick access. Follow the below-mentioned steps.

Step 1: Launch the Threads app on your Android or iOS device. Navigate to the Profile tab in the bottom right corner.

Step 2: In the profile tab, tap on the Share profile button, and from the Share sheet, choose the app with which you want to share your profile.

Once you receive the link, tap on it. It will redirect you to your friends’ Threads profile or your friends to your Threads profile for a quick follow.

Step 3: You will see a list of accounts you follow. Tap on the Following button next to the account you want to unfollow.
