Technically History and Journeys are both a type of web history. The significant difference between the two features is the ability of Journeys to club related searches and web pages together for better convenience. On the other hand, History in Chrome is a more traditional way of looking at your Chrome search history.

How to Enable and Find Journeys

Journeys are, by default, turned on for all the Chrome browsers for the web, whether you are on Mac, PC, or even Linux. However, if you cannot find this in your Chrome browser, we suggest you update the Chrome browser. And once done with the update, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Open Google Chrome on your PC or Mac.

Step 2: Click the three dots icon (kebab menu) in the top right corner and go to History > History.

Step 3: Now, click Turn on Journeys to enable Google Chrome’s journeys.

Once the Journeys feature is enabled, you can find it on the history page right next to the list view of history.

How to Use Chrome Journeys

If used properly, Chrome Journeys will grow on you, as it is less cluttered and neatly separated into chunks. Using Journeys on the web is an effortless process; let’s look at the simple steps to follow:

Step 1: Open Google Chrome on your PC or Mac.

Step 2: Click the three dots icon (kebab menu) in the top right corner and go to History > History.

Step 3: Go to Chrome history from the sidebar and click on the three dots icon (kebab menu) next to the Journey you want to look back into.

Tip: You can also tap on a single item inside a Journey to open it in a new tab.

Step 4: Click on ‘Open all in new tab group’ to open all the tabs in a new group and quickly resume your past session.

Tip: Click on ‘Remove all from history’ to remove all the items of a Journey from history.

Step 5: You can also try clicking on the helpful suggestions inside a Journey to continue a relevant Google search right from the Journeys.

Step 6: If you want to delete an item inside a Journey, hover your mouse to the right side of the said history and click on the kebab menu.

Step 7: Click Remove from history, and the item will be removed from the Journey.

Resume Your Journey in Chrome

Apart from this method, you can also resume a Journey from the Chrome address bar itself. Here’s how:

Step 1: Launch the Chrome browser and start typing the query related to your previous session.

Step 2: From the suggestions, click the option with Resume your journey.

Step 3: Journeys will open in the sidebar of your Chrome; click on any item to open it in the new tab.

Step 4: If you want to open all tabs from a Journey, click on the three dots.

Step 5: Select ‘Open all in new tab group’.

Step 6: All the tabs from the Journey will open in a new tab group. Now, you can continue your previous session easily.

How to Turn off Journeys in Chrome

New features can be good to some and overwhelming to others. However, if you don’t find the Journeys helpful over the traditional history and want to bid goodbyes, consider turning it off. Here are the simple steps to do so:

Step 2: Click on Turn off Journeys in the sidebar, and the Journeys tab will disappear.
